Privacy Policy

How Kiwi AI News handles your information when you read, subscribe or get in touch.

Subscribing to the newsletter

You can read the website without subscribing. If you sign up, we store your email address, subscription status, a unique link token, and the dates you sign up, confirm and unsubscribe. We also store a short source label, such as the homepage, an issue page or the topic page where you signed up. This is a page label, not your browsing history.

We use these details to send a confirmation email, manage your subscription and send newsletter issues once you confirm. If you did not request the subscription, leave the confirmation link alone: the address stays pending and is not added to the active newsletter list.

Unsubscribing and stored records

Each newsletter includes your own unsubscribe link and supports an inbox provider's one-click unsubscribe feature. Unsubscribing marks your record as unsubscribed and stops future newsletter sends to that address. An email already sent or in transit may still arrive.

Unsubscribing does not delete your record. The current system keeps the email address, subscription history, source label, send records and any votes; it has no automatic deletion schedule. Signing up again requires confirmation to reactivate the subscription.

Your confirmation, unsubscribe and voting links identify your subscription. Keep them private: someone with one of these links may be able to act on your subscription or submit a vote.

Email sends and reader feedback

For each issue we queue for a subscriber, we keep a send record linked to that subscriber and issue. It includes the sending status, timing and any sending error. A successful send means the email service accepted the request, not that you opened or read the email.

If you select Bad, OK or Good at the bottom of an email, we store that rating with your subscriber record, the issue and the time of the vote. Voting again on the same issue replaces your earlier rating. This feedback helps us understand what readers find useful.

The newsletter code does not add open-tracking pixels or rewrite story links to record individual clicks. Emails can still load images from this site or external sources, and those hosts and your email provider may process requests when images load.

Enquiries

The advertising enquiry form asks for your name, email address, an optional company name and your message. These details are emailed to the site operator so we can respond and discuss your enquiry. They are not automatically added to the newsletter list, and the form does not create a separate enquiry record in the site's database.

Please only include information needed for your enquiry, not sensitive personal information.

Services and other websites

Cloudflare runs the website and hosts its subscription database. Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) processes recipient addresses and email content to send confirmation emails, newsletters and enquiry messages. These services may process information outside New Zealand and handle operational request or delivery data under their own policies.

Some pages load fonts or images from other providers. Following a story, sharing or sponsor link takes you to another service with its own privacy practices. We do not control those services.

AI tools help prepare news summaries from source material. The newsletter's editorial context uses stories and past issues, not the subscriber list.

Questions and requests

To ask about your information, request access or a correction, or ask for deletion, use the enquiry form and put “Privacy request” in your message. Although the page is labelled Advertise, the form sends your message to the site operator. We may need to verify that the address or information belongs to you before dealing with a request. Unsubscribing is available directly through the link in your newsletter.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above shows when this version was last updated.
