AIRA's new whitepaper calls for New Zealand to climb from 35th in the Global AI Index to the top 25 by 2030. Its five recommendations cover Te Tiriti and te ao Māori, stronger links between research and industry, focused investment, safe adoption and public trust. The proposed targets and measures would let New Zealand track whether it is building AI capability of its own.

Its staff and customers can ask questions of that data in plain English. Keeping the data in New Zealand could help local organisations with data residency requirements use the service.
